Patch Picks: Halloween Fun

Halloween is just around the corner. Looking for a way to celebrate the season? Lemont has you covered.

Every Thursday, Patch will run a weekly feature called Patch Picks, highlighting editor and reader picks of great local businesses, destinations, services, organizations, ways to spend a day off, and more.

You’ll find useful lists to help you, your family, friends, and significant others find the best places for everything from Sunday brunch to New Year’s Eve celebrations, pumpkin patches, date night destinations, florists, girlfriend nights out, kids party places, parks and more.

For this week, we're looking at ways to celebrate the Halloween holiday.

Halloween Fun

1. Fall Arts and Crafts Fair and Trick or Treat Trail

The village is combining two of their annual events to be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, at the , 1270 Village Drive. The Trick or Treat Trail will go through the community ending in the Multi-Purpose Room on the lower level of Franciscan Village, where refreshments will be served.

2. Halloween Hoedown

The event, which takes place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., will include a costume parade and contest, haywagon rides at Budnik Plaza, kids entertainment, a pumpkin jumpie, arts and crafts, and trick-or-treating at Safety Village and multiple downtown Lemont stores. 3. Adult Scavenger Hunt and Costume Party

The event will be held from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. The scavenger hunt will begin at, 114 Stephen St., and end with a costume party and contest, food and music at Stone House Pub, 103 Stephen St.

4. Trick or Treat at the Library

From 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday, kids can come to the , 50 E. Wend St., and get treats from their favorite book characters. Attendees can also register to win a Spooktacular Halloween basket from the Friends. No sign up required. All agees welcome.

5. St. Matthew's "Trunk or Treat"

is hosting its second annual "Trunk or Treat" from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Lemont Police Department, 14600 W 127th St. Church members will decorate their vehicles and hand out candy and other treats. Donations will also be collected for the Bethany Food Pantry.

Trick-or-Treat Hours

Trick-or-Treating hours in Lemont are from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday. Residents are reminded to turn on their porch lights if they welcome trick-or-treaters.
