The Lemont Police Department, led by Chief Kevin Shaughnessy, is dedicated to serving and protecting the residents of Lemont. The station's mission is to "serve with loyalty, pride and devotion" while using "all available resources both effectively and efficiently to address crime, the causes of crime and the fear of crime in the community."

In May 2010, LPD moved to its new facility at 14600 W. 127th St. Located in the lobby of the new police station is The Kiosk, an interactive system that allows citizens to request services such as vacation watch and lost license plate or driver's license. Residents can also use The Kiosk to apply for the Citizen's Academy, SALT group and Cadet program.

I have had to go here several times for professional reasons like getting fingerprinted for backgrounds, etc. Seriously impressed with the facility and the officers I had a chance to meet. They have all been professional and human. This department has got a lot of stellar talent and a lot of potential for specialized inter-agency work.
