Head coach Eric Michaelsen’s Indians are 1-2 through the early part of the season. Lemont dropped its season-opening contest to visiting Plainfield South (28-13), but rebounded to post a 44-20 victory at Riverside-Brookfield in Week 2.

In Week 3, Lemont fell at home to defending SSC Red champion Richards (28-14).

Lemont has made nine consecutive playoff appearances. In 2012, Lemont went 11-2 (5-1 SSC Blue), finished in a three-way tie for the SSC Blue title (its sixth in seven seasons), and advanced to the IHSA Class 6A semifinals for the second straight year.

Coached by Brian McDonough, Oak Forest opened the season with a three-game homestand and will enter the game with a 2-1 record. The Bengals, who also were part of the three-way tie for last year’s SSC Blue title, eased by Phoenix Military Academy (40-0) in week one, dropped a 27-14 decision to visiting Chicago Brooks in week two, and edged T.F. South (28-21) in their league opener last week.

Oak Forest went 10-2 a year ago, with both losses coming to Lemont.

Lemont has won eight consecutive meetings against Oak Forest, dating back to 2007. In 2012, Lemont prevailed by a 17-14 score on the road in the regular season, then by a 21-14 count at Oak Forest in the IHSA Class 6A quarterfinals.

Oak Forest’s last win in the series came in 2007, when it won 14-7 at Lemont during the regular season.
