Police: $8,000 in Jewelry Stolen in Lemont Home Burglary

A short, heavyset Hispanic male broke into a home in the 0-50 block of Meagan Lane on July 23, according to the Lemont Police Department.

Police are searching for a man who allegedly stole more than $8,000 worth of jewelry from a Lemont home this month.

On July 23, Lemont police responded to a home in the 0-50 block of Meagan Lane around 2:49 p.m. after receiving a "suspicious circumstances complaint." Upon further investigation, it was discovered that an unknown offender had broken into the residence and taken jewelry valued at $8,035, police said.

A witness described the suspect as a short, heavyset Hispanic male, approximately 5-foot-2 and 240 pounds, according to the Lemont Police Department.

He had a mustache and was wearing gray shorts and a gray shirt at the time of the incident, police said.

Lemont residents are reminded to call 911 if they witness suspicious activity in their neighborhoods.
