Whiz Kids' School:

Whiz Kid's Accomplishment: In January, Kevin Driscoll played the role of "East" in the 2012 Illinois High School Theatre Festival All-State Production, Almost, Maine. The festival was held at Illinois State University, and featured several hundred of the state's most talented students.

Whiz Kid's Key to Awesomeness: Driscoll's participation marked the third-straight year Lemont High School was represented at the central event of the country's largest statewide theatre festival. He secured his role after auditioning with hundreds of other students. Lemont junior Aubree Tally and sophomore Anne-Marie Alwan also made the final callbacks for the show.

Almost, Maine is a play by John Cariani, and is the most-produced play in North American high schools, according to a District 210 press release. The romantic comedy chronicles the residents of the mythical town of Almost, Maine, as they fall in and out of love in hilarious and unexpected ways.

The All-State Production was one of many events at the 37th annual Illinois High School Theatre Festival, the largest such event in the United States. The production was directed by Crystal Lake South High School's Ben Stoner, and included more than 70 drama and music students from across the state who put rehearsed fewer than 20 times before the main show.
