Writing has been my passion since I was in junior high school, when I started my own magazine for kids and sold it at the local convenience store in the small Kentucky town where I grew up. My interest in local journalism began early as well, when I finagled a job as a sports writer for my hometown newspaper as a teenager. When my term as editor of my high school newspaper was up, I headed for journalism school at Northwestern University. There, I worked on the college newspaper staff, did news and sports broadcasting on the campus radio station, and started a campus television news station with some fellow students.
I spent 15 years as a writer and marketing consultant (most of it in Lemont), specializing in covering education, financial services, and business. I've also taught advertising at Moraine Valley Community College. But my most important job is as a mom. If you're a Lemonter, you've no doubt seen me at an AYSO game, park district dance class, school function or community fund-raiser. I love Lemont and am thrilled to write about the amazing people who make this place home.
