Reply1. I would rather have liked to have seen pictures of inside the village hall vs. a bunch of current and former politicans.
2. Mayor Reaves, have you met with any private investors for the sports complex in one of our new conference rooms?

The entire town should be asking if the punishment for the student who brought a gun to school was followed according to school policy or did favoritism/nepotism play a role?

Next you may want to ask the BOE about the punishment for a student bringing a gun to school.

ReplyWho cares what mode of communication was used even if it was bad penmanship. (I know kids with better penmanship than some adults I know.) A bomb threat should be treated with the upmost urgency and drastic measures are warranted.

ReplyI stand corrected. It is the administration not the BOE positioning for another referendum.

ReplyMs. Kelly, would love your perspective on permanently moving $2M out of the operations and maintenance fund this year. Why was that done? Could it be that it will ultimately lead the buildings and parking lots go by the wayside so a referendum can hit the ballot to claim "we have no money to fix up the schools. Look, they are falling apart." Suckering the taxpayers for more money won't work. It is already known how this BOE is trying to position another referendum. Maybe we can get the district PR person to address it, eh?

ReplyThe real issue and focus should be on how the school district didnt evacuate Old Quarry while they searched the building for a bomb. It was so concerning that the students werent allowed to take their backpacks home with them from school at the end of the day. The police were searching after school too. Children are not replaceable objects. Not evacuating the students was a complete lack of good judgement. Anyone throwing stones at parents who decided to keep their kids at home with this recent incident is ludicrous. Was it just a knucklehead high school teenager that walked into Columbine and shot up that school just a mistake? Every threat should be taken with the utmost urgency - no matter what and consequences should mirror the crime.

That is not the point I was making. The school should have notified all parents in all 3 schools and make them aware of the situation so that parents can make the best decision on what was right for their children. Its not a stunt nor am I insinuating it was just to cover themselves. Maybe it could have been stated a little differently, but you took it out of context.

Get ready taxpayers, they are setting us up for a referendum. Their district PR person will try to tug at the heartstrings - the we have no money game. Follow the money and you will see that they are positioning for a referendum. Guaranteed.
