UPDATED, May 8 A middle school girl is facing criminal charges after assuming responsibility for a bomb threat written outside Oakwood School on Sunday, according to Lemont police. Lemont Police Chief Kevin Shaughnessy confirmed Wednesday that the girl was charged with disorderly conduct and will be tried in Cook County juvenile court. The girl also faces possible consequences at school. Students who damage school property and/or engage in threatening activities could face suspension or even expulsion, according to the district handbook. Students at Oakwood, River Valley and Old Quarry Middle School decorated masks in support of the SD113A Educational Foundation fundraiser to take place Saturday, Feb. 9, at Ruffled Feathers Golf Club. “The kids were so excited to complete an art project to show off for the community,” said third-grade teacher Nicole Dyche. “Knowing their art was going to be ‘for sale’ gave them a greater sense of pride in their work.
