Lemont's Olivia Matthews Wins State Title at Business Leadership Conference

The Lemont freshman captured the school's first event title since 2011 at the Future Business Leaders of America State Leadership Conference, held April 12-13 in Springfield, IL.

Lemont High School freshman Olivia Matthews captured a state title earlier this month during the 2013 Future Business Leaders of America State Leadership Conference. Students from Lemont placed among the top ten in 15 of the 19 categories in which they were entered at the FBLA conference, which was held April 12-13 in Springfield, IL. The event attracted more than 1,450 student competitors from across the state, making it the state’s largest FBLA conference ever. Matthews was the state’s top performer in the Public Speaking I category. Her win marked the first event state title for Lemont since 2011 and  only the ninth in the chapter's short history. Drop Off Winter Clothing at LHS Through Dec.11

Lemont High School’s Future Business Leaders of America is collecting gently used sweaters, coats, scarves, hats and gloves – as well as personal care and cleaning items – for community members in need.

Lemont High School’s chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) is conducting a clothing drive through Tuesday, Dec. 11. Families who are cleaning out their closets to make room for holiday gifts are encouraged to drop off their donations at Lemont High School. In partnership with Interact, the school’s community service organization, FBLA also will accept unopened personal care products during the event. Items will be donated to Hope and Friendship Ministries in Lemont. Included among the most desired clothing items are gently used sweaters, coats, scarves, hats and gloves. Personal care items can include soaps, shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, cleaning products, napkins, paper plates and other items. Students may make their …

Lemont High School's FBLA Chapter Posts Six 'Top 10' Finishes at State

Lemont had 17 students compete in 12 events at the Future Business Leaders of America State Leadership Conference in Decatur, IL, on March 30-31.

The Lemont High School chapter of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) placed among the top ten in six categories last month at the 2012 Illinois FBLA State Leadership Conference. The conference, held March 30-31 in Decatur, attracted more than 1,300 students from more than 60 high schools across Illinois. Lemont had 17 students compete in 12 events. Sophomore Rebeca Bagdocimo was Lemont’s top finisher in any event, as she finished as the runner-up in the Public Speaking 1 category. The school also had a pair of third-place finishers: senior Nick Cottrell in Public Speaking II and junior Zack Reitz in Accounting II. Lemont High School's FBLA Chapter Dominates Regional, Eyes State

LHS took first place in 15 of 23 events and collected 30 top-three finishes at the inaugural Central Northern Area Conference regional Jan. 21.

Lemont High School chapter of Future Business Leaders of America is looking forward to the state competition after dominating the inaugural Central Northern Area Conference regional Jan. 21. The regional, hosted by Lemont featured more than 160 competitors from 11 Chicago-area high schools. The one-day event included business and leadership training workshops and seminars, in additional to the competitive events. Lemont took first place in 15 of the 23 events it entered, and collected 30 top-three finishes in all. Mayor Reaves, Students Honor LHS State Champs

The cheerleading squad and members of the Future Business Leaders of America were among those honored at a special assembly Friday.

Lemont High School students and faculty members were joined Friday morning by Mayor Brian Reaves for a special assembly honoring state champions from the 2010-2011 school year. In February, Lemont's varsity cheerleading squad nabbed its third straight IHSA Medium Division title. The squad is the only team in school history to win a state championship. On March 25-26, for the second straight year, the Lemont High School chapter of Future Business Leaders of America made an impressive showing at the 2011 FBLA State Leadership Conference in Decatur, Ill. Lemont High School Students Aid Women's Shelters with Holiday Clothing Drive

The clothing drive was organized by the school's chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America.

Women and children at shelters across the Chicagoland area will have a happier Christmas this year thanks to the efforts of Lemont High School students, faculty and staff. Wanting to help families in need during the holiday season, the Lemont High School chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) organized a clothing drive, which ran Monday, Dec. 6, to Wednesday, Dec. 15. In less than two weeks, the group collected 2,335 articles of clothing to be donated to Second Chance Resale Shop in Westmont, which donated all proceeds from clothing sales to area women's shelters. The drive was the brainchild of 17-year-old senior Danny Banas, president of the FBLA. Banas went to the group's sponsors with the idea after a friend told him …
