Lemont Police Announce Holiday Crackdown Results

Local, state law enforcement teamed up for “Drive to Survive” campaign.

Lemont Police Department has announced the results of the recent year-end traffic safety push called  “Drive to Survive.”  The enforcement campaign was designed to lower motor vehicle fatalities due to not buckling up or to driving under the influence. Summary of Lemont Police activity from December 17, 2012 to Jan. 1, 2013: The Lemont Police Department joined forces with other state and local law enforcement and highway safety partners in conducting the crackdown campaign, featuring high-visibility enforcement combined with a variety of outreach activities including a strategic media campaign and additional enforcement activity. Local law enforcement is stepping up DUI, seat belt enforcement in ‘Drive Sober of Get Pulled Over’ and “Click It or Ticket” campaigns through New Year's Eve.

Lemont Police Release Data from November Crackdown

Department reports arrest numbers from Click It or Ticket, Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaigns.

From Nov. 12-25, the Lemont Police Department partnered with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) to remind motorists to buckle up and to not drive impaired as part of a “Click It or Ticket/Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” mobilization effort. Local police joined other state and local law enforcement agencies to reduce highway fatalities by cracking down on unbuckled motorists and impaired drivers, both day and night. Law enforcement reminds drivers and passengers to Click it or Ticket and Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over

Police and safety officials in Lemont remind residents to fasten their seat belts over the Thanksgiving holiday period or run the risk of receiving a ticket. “Whether you’re going across town or across the state this Thanksgiving, please make sure you and everyone riding with you are wearing their seat belts,” said Lemont Police Sergeant Joe Miller. “You may be enjoying the holiday, but rest assured that police will still be out in force, as part of this year’s Click It or Ticket campaign, making sure motorist road trips are as safe as possible.” The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is proud that Illinois has a 93.6 percent daytime safety belt usage rate. Police Announce Results of Labor Day Crackdown

Law enforcement agency participated in nationwide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over/Click It or Ticket” effort.

The Lemont Police Department has announced the results of its Labor Day crackdown, in which officers made five arrests for impaired driving and numerous other arrests for various offenses. The arrests were made as part of the department’s “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over/Click It or Ticket” effort. The number of citations and the offenses for which they were issued is as follows: Law enforcement agencies throughout Illinois participated in the nationwide crackdown, which ran from Aug. 17 through Labor Day, Sept. 3. Memorial Day Traffic Enforcement Crackdown Nets 59 Arrests

The department joined more than 500 Illinois law enforcement enforcement agencies for an aggressive national seat belt enforcement mobilization May 11-28.

The Lemont Police Department made four impaired-driving arrests and 55 other significant arrests during the Memorial Day traffic enforcement crackdown. The mobilization, which ran May 11 through May 28, was part of a national mobilization of law enforcement agencies and highway safety advocates.  The campaign featured high-visibility enforcement combined with a variety of outreach activities, including a strategic media campaign and additional enforcement activity. The Lemont Police Department made 29 arrests during their recent St. Patrick's Day road safety crackdown, police said. Lemont Police Sgt. Joseph Miller, the department's traffic safety coordinator, said the department made two impaired-driving arrests and issued 19 seat belt citations during the traffic safety campaign, which ran March 12-20. The crackdown featured high-visibility enforcement combined with a variety of outreach activities, Miller said. There is literally nothing in this article that could be used against LPD, nor should there be. People were caught violating the law. Lemont Police Arrest 50 During Holiday Crackdown

The Lemont Police Department made 50 arrests during their recent holiday road safety crackdown, police said. Lemont Police Sgt. Joseph Miller, the department's traffic safety coordinator, said the department made six impaired-driving arrests and issued 25 seat belt citations during the traffic safety campaign, which ran from Dec. 19, 2011 to Jan. 1, 2012. The crackdown featured high-visibility enforcement combined with a variety of outreach activities, Miller said. Extra emphasis was given to late-night hours. Thirty-seven arrests and 13 seat belt citations occurred after midnight, according to police. Lemont Police Release Thanksgiving Crackdown Numbers

Lemont police made more than a dozen significant arrests and issued more than 100 citations for seat belt and speed violations earlier this month as part of a Thanksgiving traffic safety campaign. The Lemont Police Department announced that 12 impaired-driving arrests were made and at least 153 citations were issued during the holiday crackdown, according to Lemont Police Sgt. Joe Miller, coordinator of the department's traffic safety program.
