‘Twelfth Night’ Celebrates French Holiday Traditions

Isle a la Cache Museum in nearby Romeoville will present “Twelfth Night: A French Holiday Tradition,” a free, all-age family program, at 2 p.m. Saturday. Sponsored by the Forest Preserve District of Will County, Twelfth Night is a traditional French holiday that has been celebrated for hundreds of years. It’s the night when Christmas festivities end, and is observed as a time of merriment. In the Illinois Country in the 1700s, French-Canadian fur traders celebrated the holiday with music, dance, stories, games and treats. In honor of those traditions, guests at the Twelfth Night program will have the opportunity to make a vintage French craft to take home as a keepsake of the event.
