Officials weighed in on the possibility of statewide school consolidation after Gov. Pat Quinn and several state representatives began discussing the possible savings associated with having fewer districts. Missed the St. Patrick's Day in downtown Lemont? Patch was there, and we've got some great photos and video to share. The village had a record sales tax month in December, bringing in more than $216,000 in revenue. Lemont Police Officer Joe Kurzawa took part in the Lake Manteno Polar Plunge on March 5, raising more than $1,000 for Special Olympics Illinois. Town Hall Meeting on Public Education: Live Blog

Presentations will be made Wednesday night by the village of Lemont, Lemont-Bromberek Combined School District 113A and Lemont High School District 210.

Mayor Reaves closes the town hall meeting by thanking the community for allowing him to be their mayor. "I treat that as an honor and privilege," he said. Reaves commends the various taxing bodies in Lemont for their accomplishments in recent years, including the Lemont Park District and the Lemont Fire Protection District. He calls Lemont High School "a phenomenal place." He urges residents to continue spreading the word about what's going on in the community. "You've got to get involved," Reaves said. The Lemont Tea Party is hosting a District 113A candidate forum at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Lemont Township Community Center, 16300 Alba St. Mayor Brian Reaves, along with representatives from District 113A and District 210, will host a town hall meeting on public education at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Lemont High School Performing Arts Center, 800 Porter St. Village officials are still accepting questions to be answered during the meeting. District 113A also announced Monday that they would be hosting an informational forum for senior citizens on Sunday, March 20, at the Lemont Township Community Center. It's the day mathematicians, pizza lovers, pie eaters and Peanuts fans wait all year for: it's Pi Day. Today (3/14), many celebrate the Greek letter π, also known as 3.14159… For more on this quirky holiday, head over to Naperville Patch where Local Editor Mary Ann Lopez has put together a fun feature on all that is pi(e). Early voting begins Monday at polling places throughout the state. In Lemont, early voters may cast their ballots at the Lemont Public Library, 50 E. The Village of Lemont is still accepting questions from the public for this week's town hall meeting on public education. The forum, which was organized by Lemont Mayor Brian Reaves, will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Lemont High School Performing Arts Center, 800 Porter St. Reaves is hosting the event in conjunction with Lemont-Bromberek Combined School District 113A and Lemont High School District 210. He will be joined by District 113A Superintendent Tim Ricker and Board President Lisa Wright, as well as District 210 Superintendent Sandra Doebert and Board President Beverly Marzec. Welcome to "Community Corner," a new column dedicated to announcements and important information straight from Village Hall. All items included in this post were provided by officials and administrators from the Village of Lemont. On March 16 at 7 p.m., Lemont High School District 210, Lemont-Bromberek Combined School District 113A and the Village of Lemont will co-sponsor a town hall meeting on public education in Lemont at the Lemont High School Performing Arts Center, 800 Porter St. I am urging every citizen of Lemont to either attend the forum or view it on local cable television. Town Hall Meeting on Covington Knolls Road Extensions Draws Large Crowd

Residents expressed concerns Monday night over plans to connect the subdivision to McCarthy Road with the extension of First and Fourth streets.

CORRECTION (Friday, Nov. 12): Patch incorrectly attributed a quote to Aline Czub of Berkley Lane. Her name is Alina Czub, and she lives on Country Lane. Czub is opposed to the Fourth Street connection because she feels the current traffic safety issues along Country Lane need to be addressed. Additionally, the quote from Angie Sojka should have read: "The children on Fourth Street are no more important than the children on First Street or Covington. Everyone wants safety for our children wherever they live, no one wants a child to get hurt anywhere." We regret the errors. Long overdue! Although noone wants additional traffic on thier streets, the more ways that people can get to a destination the better! Also, from a public safety aspect, it will increase police/fire response time greatly.   more ›
