Terri O’Neill-Borders of the Hope and Friendship Foundation said that when she offered to help local families in need enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving dinner this year, she expected to get 15 to 20 requests. But she said the humble requests kept mounting, until they reached more than 50. “I didn’t expect the many recent layoffs, the sick kids causing a single mom/dad to miss work days and pay, the health scare that created doctor and prescription bills, etc.,” said O’Neill-Borders. “Those who are trying to run their households at the minimum wage and just above level do not have resources for these crises. They also don’t have an extra $15 for a turkey, but would love to enjoy one.” O’Neill-Borders said she was fretting over how to come up…
Not in the mood to cook an elaborate Thanksgiving dinner this year? Not to worry; countless local restaurants are ready to do the job for you, no clean-up required. Many places require reservations or fill up fast though, so be sure to call ahead.
