Village of Lemont Festival Committee Announces St. Patrick’s Day Queen

Kylie Abernathy will lead Lemont’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade through downtown Lemont on March 9.

The Village of Lemont Festival Committee has announced that Kylie Abernathy has been selected as this year’s St. Patrick’s Day Queen. She will lead the 2013 Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday, March 9, through historic downtown Lemont. The letter nominating the 2013 queen describes her as an intelligent, sensitive, hard working young lady who is a great role model.  The daughter of John and Sheri Abernathy of Lemont, Kylie is a freshman at Western Michigan University, where she is working toward a degree in occupational therapy. She is a member of Sigma Kappa, and serves as the chapter’s historian. Kylie continues her passion for volunteerism by serving the Alzheimer’s Foundation with her sorority sisters. Village Seeks Nominations for St. Patrick's Day Queen, Parade Entries

The 2012 St. Patrick's Day parade will be held at 1 p.m. March 10 in downtown Lemont, with a festival to follow at 5 p.m. at the Lemont VFW Post 5819.

The Village of Lemont is gearing up for its annual St. Patrick's Day parade and festival, set for March 10 in the historic downtown area. The village's festival committee is looking for families, organizations and local businesses interested in marching or entering a float in the parade, which will begin at 1 p.m. The parade, which will be led by Lemont's Irish queen, will travel south on Stephen Street and west on Main Street to the Veterans of Foreign War Post 5819, 15780 New Ave. Following the parade, there will be Irish dancing, musical entertainment, refreshments and a soda bread contest at the VFW until 5 p.m.. Soda bread entries must be dropped off by 3 p.m. The village is also seeking nominations for the St. Patrick's Day queen. …
