District 113A Holds Special Meeting for Board Development, Strategic Planning

The school board will meet with a representative from the Illinois Association of School Boards during closed session Tuesday night.

The Lemont-Bromberek Combined School District 113A Board of Education will hold a special meeting Tuesday to discuss board development and strategic planning. Board members will hold a closed session meeting at 6 p.m. at Old Quarry Middle School, 16100 W. 127th St., to discuss "self-evaluation, practices and procedures or professional ethics" with Jeff Cohn, a field representative from the Illinois Association of School Boards. The retreat is just one of the services offered by the IASB, which conducted the superintendent search in District 113A earlier this year. District 113A Board to Discuss 3-Year Wellness Plan, PTO Donations

The Lemont-Bromberek Combined School District 113A Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Old Quarry Middle School LRC.

The Lemont-Bromberek Combined School District 113A Board of Education will hold a special meeting Tuesday night to discuss the district's three-year wellness plan, donations from the Parent-Teacher Organization and the after-school program Project Infinite Green. During the meeting, members of the district's Wellness Committee—which promotes nutrition and student health—will present highlights from their evaluation of the district's wellness policy and plan. The committee will also present an updated three-year wellness plan (2012-15) that sets goals in the areas of nutrition education, physical activity, school-based wellness activities, nutrition guidelines for food and beverages, school meals and community involvement. District 113A to Select New Officers, Committee Members

The board will vote Tuesday on a president, vice president, secretary and treasurer for the next year.

The Lemont-Bromberek Combined School District 113A Board of Education will hold a special meeting Tuesday night to select officers and committee members for the upcoming year. During April or May each year, the board considers organizational matters, such as filling board offices and setting dates for its regular meetings. On Tuesday, board members will select a president, vice president, secretary and treasurer to take office, effective immediately. The president will then appoint board members to various district committees (Policy, Calendar, Finance and Audit, Negotiations, Wellness, Discipline, Community Engagement, Behavioral Intervention, Transportation, Employee Insurance). The board will also consider Tuesday night the purchase of a $16,928 cooling system for the server room at Old Quarry Middle School.

The Lemont-Bromberek Combined School District 113A Board of Education will hold a special meeting Tuesday night to discuss an increase in school fees, the schedule for board reorganization and the purchase of a new cooling system for Old Quarry Middle School. During the meeting, District 113A Interim Superintendent Robert Madonia and Business Manager Barbara Germany will lead a discussion on their analysis of school fees. This year, the administration is recommending an increase in fees to match the current Consumer Price Index of 3 percent, according to the meeting agenda. The finalized audit and the district's Annual Financial Report must be submitted to the state by Oct. 15. The District 113A Board will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the River Valley All-Purpose Room.

The Lemont-Bromberek Combined School District 113A Board of Education will hold a special meeting Tuesday night to consider the district's financial audit for the 2010-2011 school year. During the meeting, the board will have the opportunity to ask questions and provide input on the audit, which was completed by the auditing firm Mulcahy, Pauritsch, Salvador and Co. The document will be presented by Ed. McCormick, a representative from teh firm, and District 113A Business Manager Barbara Germany. District 113A to Discuss Presentation to State Board on Financial Oversight

A special meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the All-Purpose Room at River Valley School.

The Lemont-Bromberek Combined School District 113A Board of Education will hold a special meeting Tuesday to further discuss the possibility of state financial takeover. District 113A Superintendent Tim Ricker told board members during a special meeting last week that he was informed by ISBE Division Administrator for Business Services Deb Vespa that state officials are considering a recommendation to the Illinois State Board of Education that the school district be placed under a financial oversight panel. The Board of Education for Lemont-Bromberek Combined School District 113A will hold a special meeting Tuesday to approve a final referendum question for the April 5 ballot.

Administrators and financial advisers in Lemont-Bromberek Combined School District 113A will recommend approval of an $8 million working cash bond referendum at a special school board meeting Tuesday night. Though District 113A board members reached a consensus last week that a limiting rate referendum would be the best option for the April 5 ballot, documents in Tuesday's meeting packet indicate that the administration will recommend a working cash bond referendum instead. According to the documents, the administration's recommendation is that the board "not consider a limiting rate increase at this time due to issues related to the timing of when the possible increase is applied to the tax rolls.
