Beginning this Saturday, Girl Scout Troop 259 will be collecting new socks for Lemont families in need. The group of third-graders collected more than 900 pairs of mittens from generous members of the community last year – and hopes to top that total in socks this year. The girls are looking for men’s socks, women’s socks, kid’s socks, baby socks, sport socks, dress socks, even silly socks – in fact, any socks – as long as they’re new socks! And people can donate any quantity of socks, too – whether single pairs or packages.
