Police Blotter: Man Lets Pals Take Scrap Rap
Police say alleged thief left accomplices behind when confronted by worker opening scrap yard in early morning Nov. 8.
Three Chicago men were charged with theft Nov. 8 after allegedly being caught in the act of stealing materials from a scrap processing business in the 16200 block of New Avenue. Lemont Police Chief Kevin Shaughnessy said a worker who was opening the scrap processing business called police a little after 6 a.m. after observing several men who appeared to be in the process of stealing materials. When police arrived at the scrap yard, one of the men left the scene in a vehicle and headed toward downtown Lemont, leaving his alleged accomplices behind, Shaughnessy said. Police pursued the vehicle and caught up with the driver, Bobby C. Perry, 48, of 4227 Adams St. in Chicago, at Illinois and State streets. According to Shaughnessy, police …
