District 113A Meeting Update: Board OKs Funds Transfer, Loan

The Lemont-Bromberek Combined School District 113A Board of Education held its monthly business meeting at Tuesday in the Old Quarry Middle School LRC.

During School District 113A Board of Education's business meeting Tuesday night, the board voted to permanently transfer $1.8 million from the district’s operations and maintenance fund to the education fund. Any deviation from the plan by the district must be approved by the ISBE before implementation. But board member Al Malley said he had doubts about the Illinois State Board of Education’s support for the district’s request for the $1.8 million funds transfer. After reading a recent email reply from Deb Vespa, Illinois State Board of …

Administrator attributes progress to perseverance of principals, teachers, support staff and parents.

The article title is misleading. In the article it states, "But the performance levels of several several subgroups at River Valley and the school district as a whole did not meet AYP, Gricus said." So River Valley and the school district as a WHOLE DID NOT meet AYP.   more ›

Serial candidate Laura Reigle is out getting signatures for the April 9 school board election, haven't heard any other names of people running. If there aren't 3 other candidates then Reigle gets elected unopposed. If Reigle gets elected say goodbye to Lemont schools as we know them. Also say goodbye to your home's value, remember Reigle said that state takeover of the school district wouldn't be…   more ›

The following letter was sent to Patch this week by Lisa Wright, president of the Lemont-Bromberek Combined School District 113A Board of Education.

We have already eliminated deficit spending, established and maintained a balanced budget, and adopted new processes to increase accountability and transparency. …

We could put the signs up in firehouses and police cruisers as well. Just think of the influx of AWESOME public workers that would bring in! We'd have to fight them off with a stick.   more ›
