Tickets are available for SD 113A Educational Foundation fundraiser at Ruffled Feathers Golf Club.
Guests at the Mardi Gras Mask-er-Aid this weekend will be treated to a very special art auction. Students at Oakwood, River Valley and Old Quarry Middle School decorated masks in support of the SD113A Educational Foundation fundraiser to take place Saturday, Feb. 9, at Ruffled Feathers Golf Club. “The kids were so excited to complete an art project to show off for the community,” said third-grade teacher Nicole Dyche. “Knowing their art was going to be ‘for sale’ gave them a greater sense of pride in their work. The annual Mayor's Drive for Charity had its best year yet, raising about $30,000 for Lemont charities, Mayor Brian Reaves announced last week. Reaves holds the golf outing each year at Ruffled Feathers Golf Club, 1 Pete Dye Drive, to raise money for local service and non-profit organizations. During the May 14 village board meeting, Reaves said the event raised nearly $30,000 after expenses, making it the best year to date. "Thank you to everybody, and thank you to everybody at Ruffled Feathers. It's an unprecedented kindness they give to us, donating the course for two full rounds for the whole day. You just don't get that type of support from many private entitites," he said. Last year, the Mayor's Drive for Charity raised nearly $26,…
