Letter to the Editor: Candidate Richard Grabowski Thanks Supporters

Grabowski said he “won Lemont Township handily” in Nov. 6, 2012 election.

Dear friends and supporters, Now that the 2012 General Elections are behind us, and the 2013 inaugurations are upon us, I wanted to thank you for your support throughout our campaign efforts to win Illinois’ 3rd Congressional District seat. Many unexpected voting results came in on the night of November 6th 2012 in so many races in Illinois and around the country. For us, we were running against the 30 year, 2 generation, one of Illinois’ largest powerbroker family names, with no support from the state party or national party.  Our race was probably the toughest one to win in Illinois.  My opponent received most of his $1,700,000 of campaign funding from union dues money shoveled in from union PACs and lobbyists. Rush Limbaugh's Attack on Women: Mom Talk

How can we raise our daughters to feel like equals when we are still being labeled hookers for having opinions?

Rush Limbaugh has always been a gaseous windbag, but "slut" and "prostitute?" Really? For anyone who may not have heard, the old right-wing shock jock blamed the victim. Personally, I've never been a fan of shock jocks—on either side of the political spectrum. There is very little, if anything, that has ever come out of Limbaugh's mouth that I would find entertaining. He is easy to ignore. However, as a woman and a mom, this recent outrage has me seeing …

Good comparison, JD. The historical similarities between sluts and fascists are so obvous that it's no wonder Rush gets excited by both of them.   more ›

Ron Paul Wins Illinois Straw Poll

State GOP Chairman Pat Brady "pleased with turnout" that netted more than 3,600 votes.

Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) was named the winner of the Illinois Straw Poll on Saturday as the state’s Republicans showed their preference for their party’s presidential nomination to oppose President Barack Obama. "I congratulate Congressman Paul on his victory," Illinois GOP Chairman Pat Brady said in a statement. "It is clear Illinois Republicans are gearing up for a tremendous year in 2012." Paul took 52 percent of the votes cast both online since Oct. 29 and in person Saturday in 20 locations throughout the state, including the Lemont Township Community Center. Georgia businessman Herman Cain was second (18 percent), former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney third (14 percent), and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich fourth (9 percent).  Far …

That would be a perfect storm, splitting up the mormans, the 999 ers , and the rest of the right wingers so Barack can slide back into his seat and get the job done.   more ›

Illinois GOP Straw Poll Ends Saturday

Area Republicans and elected officials will be on hand Saturday for in-person voting at the Lemont Township Community Center. Take our poll to tell us your pick for the GOP nomination.

Illinois Republicans have one more day to cast their vote in the state GOP's presidential straw poll. The Illinois GOP launched its first ever online straw poll Oct. 29 to give voters an opportunity to let their voices be heard prior to the presidential primary in March. Through 7 p.m. Saturday, Illinois residents can cast their vote on the straw poll website — after making a $5 contribution. "This poll is really an opportunity for Illinois voters to have a voice in this presidential election, which is great because there's a lot of interest and excitement right now both nationally and locally," said Sig Vaznelis, chairman of the Cook County Republican Party.
