Get Ready for Fall: Oktoberfest is Coming Saturday

Family-friendly event will benefit the Lemont Township Family Assistance Fund.

Fall is in the air – so it’s the perfect time for Lemont Township’s Oktoberfest, planned for noon to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Lemont Township Community Center at 16300 Alba Street. This is the second year for the family-friendly event, where fest-goers can purchase tasty food and refreshing drinks from Three Corners Grill & Tap, and buy a pumpkin to take home from Puckerville Farms. And, new this year – residents can get into the spirit of Oktoberfest by entering their own home-baked treats in the fall homemade dessert competition. Amateur cooks and bakers can drop off their best pumpkin bars, apple cobblers or other fall desserts by 3 p.m. – and for a $2 donation, fest-goers will earn a chance to taste and vote for their favorite …

Five things every Lemonter needs to know Tuesday.

The weekly Lemont Farmers Market continues today in the Talcott Square parking lot. The market runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. CLICK HERE for more information, including a complete list of vendors. The Lemont-Bromberek Combined School District 113A workshop meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday has been canceled. The board will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11. A short kickoff event for the new education initiative "Project Infinite Green" will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Lemont High School, 800 Porter St. The organization will give 15 Lemont students the opportunity to learn about green technologies and sustainable practices. The first ever fall festival raised money for the Lemont Township Family Assistance Fund.

Lemont Township hosted its first ever "Oktoberfest" for kids and families Saturday at the Lemont Township Community Center, 16300 Alba St. The event featured games for kids, pumpkin carving provided by Puckerville Farms, live music, a bean bag tournament and food from 3 Corners Grill and Tap. All proceeds will support the Lemont Township Family Assistance Fund.

Families Invited to Lemont Township for 'Oktoberfest'

The fall event will include raffles, a bean bag tournament, games, food and beverages. The fun begins at noon Saturday at the Lemont Township Community Center.

Lemont Township will kick off the fall season this Saturday with an all-day festival for kids and adults. Oktoberfest will be held from noon to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Lemont Township Community Center, 16300 Alba St. The event will include a number of activities for families, including games, a bean bag tournament and live music. Kids Activities (Noon - 4 p.m.) Live Music on the North Patio (4 p.m. - 8 p.m.) Picnic Table and Prize Raffle (7 p.m.) Winners do not have to be present, but all tickets need to be purchased by 6:45 p.m.

Friday Mash Bash at the Library The Lemont Public Library is hosting a Halloween Party for teens from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The event will feature a live DJ, dancing, taffy apples and more. Friday LHS Varsity Football vs. T.F. North The undefeated Lemont High School Indians will take on T.F. North at home Friday night. The sophomore game begins at 5 p.m., and the varsity game begins at 7 p.m. Add a Side of Relief to Your Meal Support the the Lemont Township Family Assistance Fund and the Lemont Open Food Pantries by "adding a side of relief to your meal."
