Lemont shoppers can shop ‘til they drop during Midnight Madness in the village’s historic downtown Friday. Participating businesses will stay open until midnight during the event – and specialty vendors will sell their wares at various locations throughout the downtown area. Midnight Madness festivities will begin at 6 p.m. Start your shopping at Belle De Jour at 108 Stephen St., and be sure to pick up a Midnight Madness map so you don’t miss out on the many specials and unique merchandise being offered. With the holidays right around the corner, several Lemont businesses and organizations are encouraging residents to "shop local" at special events this week. The Lemont Park District is hosting its annual "Shop 'Til You Drop" event Thursday at the CORE Fitness and Aquatic Complex, 16050 W. 127th St. From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., the gym will be packed with more than 20 vendors offering everything from home goods to jewelry. Confirmed vendors include Tupperware, Premier Designs Jewelry, Tastefully Simple, Longaberger, Scentsy Candles, Mary Kay, Jockey, Party Lite, Covered in Chocolate and Votre Vu. The annual Hometown Holiday celebration will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday in Lemont’s historic downtown.
In the past decade, Lemont’s annual Hometown Holiday celebration has blossomed from a tree lighting ceremony with hot cocoa and cookies to hours of entertainment for kids and adults alike. And this weekend, the popular holiday event makes its way back into town. From 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday in Lemont’s historic downtown, attendees can enjoy carolers, horse-drawn wagon rides, visits and pictures with Santa, a variety of children’s activities, a performance by the Allegro Dancers, complimentary hot chocolate and cookies provided by Lemont Girl Scout Service Unit 724, and ice sculpting demonstrations. Downtown Lemont will be bustling with holiday shoppers Friday night for the village's annual Midnight Madness. For the event, several businesses will hold extended shopping hours from 6 p.m. to midnight and will offer a number of special gifts and discounts. Though Midnight Madness is usually sponsored by the village, this year the event was organized by local merchants. "At the beginning of November we learned that the village wasn't going to have the funds this year to hold the event, so I started working with some of the other businesses to keep things going," said Michele Zaper, owner of Belle de Jour Salon and Belle de Jour In Style.
