Memorial Day Traffic Enforcement Crackdown Nets 59 Arrests

The department joined more than 500 Illinois law enforcement enforcement agencies for an aggressive national seat belt enforcement mobilization May 11-28.

The Lemont Police Department made four impaired-driving arrests and 55 other significant arrests during the Memorial Day traffic enforcement crackdown. The mobilization, which ran May 11 through May 28, was part of a national mobilization of law enforcement agencies and highway safety advocates.  The campaign featured high-visibility enforcement combined with a variety of outreach activities, including a strategic media campaign and additional enforcement activity. Extra emphasis was given to late night hours, as statistics show the highest number of motorists drink and drive and the fewest motorists buckle up during this time of day. This law enforcement crackdown was funded by federal traffic safety grants through the Illinois …

Terrific ceremony yesterday to honor our fallen heros. Hope next year we can have several hundred attend instead of several dozen. God bless those men and women who have fought and continue to fight for our freedoms.   more ›
