Missing Lockport Teen Last Seen in Worth

Family turns to social media for help in finding 15-year-old daughter.

The family of a 15-year-old girl missing since Sunday is turning to social media in the hopes of locating her. Courtney Jean Arp is believed to be a runaway and was last seen around 8 p.m. Sunday near 113th Street and Ridgeland Avenue in Worth. Courtney's primary residence is with her mother in Lockport, but she was visiting her father, Les Arp, in Worth for winter break when she went missing on Sunday. She is a sophomore at Lockport High School. “She snuck out her bedroom window,” Les Arp said. “She is definitely a runaway.” Arp said in speaking to Courtney’s friends, they learned of a 20-year-old boyfriend with a criminal history. The family suspects that Courtney might be with the boyfriend, whose last known address was in Palos Heights…

Six Young Men to Become Eagle Scouts Saturday

Scouts’ projects benefited local parks, a veterans memorial garden, a special-needs camp and a wolf ranch.

Local Boy Scout Troop 149 has awarded 33 Eagle Scout ranks over its 53-year history – and this weekend, the troop will bestow the prestigious award upon six more young men: Brian Finnegan, Justin Stanwyck, Paul Rachwalski, Joshua Wiktor, Delaney McGuire and Joseph Walano. The Eagle Scout ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. Saturday at American Legion Post 18 at 15052 S. Archer Ave. in Lockport. According to Boy Scouts of America, the rank of Eagle Scout is the highest advancement rank in Boy Scouting.  A Boy Scout must progress through the ranks of Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star and Life before becoming an Eagle Scout – as well as live by the Scout Oath and Law in his daily life, earn 21 merit badges, serve six months in a …

I was privileged & honored to have attended the Eagle Scout Honor Ceremony for the above mentioned six young men. After reading their profiles, one can see each has or will graduate high school with "high honors". Joe & Evelyn Walano must be very proud of their son, J. P. Each young man aspires to go on to college for their higher education . The dinner was truly a celebration!   more ›
