Lemont organizations, agencies and other groups competed in annual charity dodgeball tournament at The CORE Thursday to benefit the Lemont Township Family Assistance Fund.
Local fans cheered on their favorite teams at the “Duck, Dive & Dodge for Donations” annual dodgeball tournament at The CORE Thursday night. Twelve teams representing the Village of Lemont, Lemont High School, Lemont Junior Woman’s Club, Old Quarry School staff, Lemont Park District, Nick’s Tavern, Starbucks, the Hope and Friendship Foundation and more donned headbands, cut-off shorts and T-shirts as they battled it out on the gym floor. The entry fee for fans was a $5 donation to the Lemont Township Family Assistance Fund and/or a bag of non-perishable food or personal care products to be donated to the Lemont Food Pantries. The Saturday event, held in conjunction with Lemont's Hometown Holiday celebration, will feature St. Nicholas “Fill the Shoes” 50/50 raffle, meat raffle and more will raise money for the Lemont Township Family Assistance Fund and food pantries.
In honor of the spirit of giving inspired by St. Nicholas, Stonehouse Pub at 103 Stephen St. will sponsor a “Fill the Shoes” 50/50 raffle and meat raffle from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday. The event, which will benefit Lemont Township’s Family Assistance Fund and food pantries, will take place immediately following Lemont's Hometown Holiday celebration. Longtime residents may be familiar with the meat raffle, a fund-raising tradition spearheaded in the community for years by Lemont's “King of Meat Raffles,” none other than Lloyd Hoster. Neighbor to Neighbor Vendor and Crafter’s Market will take place Nov. 10 at the Lemont Township Community Center.
Attention Vendors and crafters: the deadline is Friday, Nov. 2, to reserve your spot for the Neighbor to Neighbor Vendor and Crafters Market. Slated for 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Lemont Township Community Center at 16300 Alba St., the one-day event will give community members the opportunity to shop a wide variety of products offered by independent vendors and crafters, just like you. Fall is in the air – so it’s the perfect time for Lemont Township’s Oktoberfest, planned for noon to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Lemont Township Community Center at 16300 Alba Street. This is the second year for the family-friendly event, where fest-goers can purchase tasty food and refreshing drinks from Three Corners Grill & Tap, and buy a pumpkin to take home from Puckerville Farms. And, new this year – residents can get into the spirit of Oktoberfest by entering their own home-baked treats in the fall homemade dessert competition.
