Lemont police picked up a stray male pit bull, tan with a white chest and wearing a brown collar, on Ledochowski Street at about 8 p.m. Sunday. According to police, the dog was reunited with his owner Monday afternoon.

Police chief says the department has developed "good leads" on some suspects, and feels confident an arrest will be made in the case.
Lemont Police are reporting that on Tuesday, Dec. 18, a residential burglary occurred at approximately 2 p.m. in the 300 block of Kromray Road. Anyone with information involving this matter is urged to call the Lemont Police Department at 630-257-2229. Police remind residents to report any suspicious activity to 911. According to Police Chief Kevin Shaughnessy, the Lemont Police Department is pursuing active leads on this case – and is releasing no further information on the incident at this time. Suspended License, No Insurance – Times Two Lemont police arrested Jeremy Townsend, 22, of the 14000 block of Pulaski Road in Midlothian, at 12:18 a.m., following a traffic stop at Main and Stephen streets. Townsend was charged with driving while his license is suspended and no insurance. But Townsend apparently didn’t head home to immediately apply for a driver’s license and auto insurance policy. Police arrested him again at 3:56 a.m. at Main and Wheeler streets – on the same charges. Townsend is scheduled to appear on the charges Jan. 7, at the Bridgeview court house. Cops say copper was stolen from a business on New Avenue in unincorporated Lemont.
Lemont Police, working in conjunction with the Tri County Auto Theft Task Force (TCAT), arrested two brothers Nov. 14 in connection with a theft of $500,000 worth of copper from a business in unincorporated Lemont. Kyle Anderson, 22, of Bridgeview and Mike Anderson, 27, of Oak Lawn were booked into the Cook County Jail on charges of felony theft. TCAT Deputy Director Dwayne Killian said based on a tip, TCAT agents began conducting surveillance at warehouses in Alsip, Oak Lawn and Bridgeview. Police and fire vehicles were reported on Ashbury Drive near 127th Street around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. Foul play is not expected, police said.
Lemont police are investigating a death of an individual in the Ashbury Woods neighborhood, Chief Kevin Shaughnessy confirmed. Vehicles from the Lemont Police Department and Lemont Fire Protection District were reported near the entrance of Ashbury Woods—located off 127th Street just east of State Street—around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. Shaughnessy confirmed that police were on the scene to investigate the death of an unidentified individual. Foul play is not suspected, he said. Further details were not immediately available. Shaughnessy said police will continue to investigate the incident.
