Black Dog Being Held by Lemont Police Department

A lost dog was found Tuesday in the 700 block of Czacki Street, police said.

A lost dog is being held at the Lemont Police Department. The dog was found around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 700 block of Czacki Street, and is currently being held at the Lemont police station, 14600 W. 127th St. The dog is black with a white patch on his chest and is wearing a blue collar. TUESDAY, MAY 7 Bennie L. Harris Jr., 51, of the 9200 block of Jill Lane, Schiller Park, was arrested at 12:06 p.m. following a traffic stop at Mccarthy Road and Archer Avenue. Harris was charged with driving while license suspended and was issued a June 11 court date at the Bridgeview Courthouse. SUNDAY, MAY 5 Mantas Storpirstis, 36, of the 200 block of Heather Glen Drive, Aurora, was arrested at 1:52 a.m. following a traffic stop at Archer Avenue and Bell Road. Storpirstis was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane usage. He was issued a June 11 court date at the Bridgeview Courthouse. Lemont Police Department Holds Open House in Honor of National Police Week

Residents are invited to tour the police station, meet police officers and participate in a blood drive from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday.

The Lemont Police Department will hold an open house Saturday in honor of National Police Week. The open house will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at the police department, 14600 127th St. Residents are invited to tour the station and meet local police officers. Refreshments will be served. A Heartland blood drive will also be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in remembrance of first responders. WEDNESDAY, MAY 1 Robert H. Doogan, 28, of the 7700 block of Brunswick Road, Darien, was arrested at 9:40 p.m. following an incident at Archer Avenue and McCarthy Road. Doogan was charged with battery and has a May 17 court date at the Bridgeview Courthouse. SUNDAY, APRIL 28 Mary L. Fox, 34, of the 1500 block of Georgia Court, Naperville, was arrested following a traffic stop at Lemont Road and Illinois Street. Lemont Police Chief Kevin Shaughnessy said the girl was charged with disorderly conduct after admitted to writing a threatening message on the school's exterior wall Sunday.

UPDATED, May 8 A middle school girl is facing criminal charges after assuming responsibility for a bomb threat written outside Oakwood School on Sunday, according to Lemont police. Lemont Police Chief Kevin Shaughnessy confirmed Wednesday that the girl was charged with disorderly conduct and will be tried in Cook County juvenile court.  The girl also faces possible consequences at school. Students who damage school property and/or engage in threatening activities could face suspension or even expulsion, according to the district handbook. Heightened Security Continues in District 113A After Bomb Threat

School officials said they have found no evidence to substantiate a chalk message that claimed Oakwood would explode Tuesday.

Officials in Lemont-Bromberek Combined School District 113A said heightened security measures will continue at Oakwood School on Tuesday—two days after police found a bomb threat written in chalk on one of the building's exterior walls. Lemont police were present at both Oakwood and River Valley schools Monday morning in light of the threat, which was discovered Sunday afternoon by an officer patrolling the area. The message indicated that Oakwood would be bombed on Tuesday. Although the threat was specific to Oakwood, River Valley—which shares a campus with Oakwood—took the same precautionary measures. Police officers will be present at Oakwood School on Monday and Tuesday after finding a threatening message written in chalk on the school's exterior wall, officials said.

The Lemont Police Department is investigating a bomb threat at Oakwood School after finding a message written on one of the building's exterior walls. District 113A officials were notified of the threat Sunday afternoon after a police officer patroling Oakwood discovered a message written in chalk that indicated the school would be bombed Tuesday, police said. In an email to parents Sunday night, principals from Oakwood and River Valley said their schools would remain open Monday, as police have found no evidence of a bomb.
