‘Lemont Loves the Arts’ Highlights Student Talent

We're happy to share some of the creations of Lemont student-artists that were showcased Thursday night at Oakwood School. If you took photos at the open house and would like to share them, please feel free to upload them to this story.

The artistic creations of students from Oakwood, River Valley, Old Quarry, St. Alphonsus/St. Patrick, SS. Cyril and Methodius, Everest Academy and the Montessori School of Lemont were showcased at the “Lemont Loves the Arts” open house Thursday night at Oakwood School. Lemont PTO launched the Lemont Loves the Arts program in 2010 to bring students from all of the village’s schools together through art. The theme of the third annual showcase, submitted by Annie Koziel of Oakwood School, was “My Favorite Family Fun Is …” Drawing their inspiration from the theme, student-artists in grades K-8 created photography, dance, fine arts, music, literature, computer-generated art and videography. Lemont PTO Kicks Off Annual 'Lemont Loves the Arts' Showcase

Students from Lemont's public and private schools are invited to submit artwork reflecting this year's them, "My Favorite Family Fun Is..."

The Lemont PTO is again sponsoring "Lemont Loves the Arts," a community art exhibition for all Lemont public and private schools. Students are encouraged to start working on their submissions, which can include paintings, drawings, sculptures, photography, dance, music, literature, and computer-generated art. The theme of the third annual showcase—submitted by Oakwood School's Annie Koziel—is "My Favorite Family Fun Is..." All submissions should reflect students' favorite moments with their family. "Lemont Loves the Arts" was created in 2010 by Lemont's parent-teacher organizations to bring all of the village's schools together through art. Jan. 18: Lemont Loves the Arts Reception, Preschool Open House

Five things every Lemonter needs to know Wednesday.

A reception will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday for the village-wide "Lemont Loves the Arts" program. The event will be held at the Lemont Center for the Arts, 1243 State St. The Lemont Park District is hosting a preschool and early childhood open house from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Feb. 4 at Centennial Community Center, 16028 W. 127th St.. Dozens of Lemont students will be honored Wednesday night for their participation in the second annual "Lemont Loves the Arts" showcase. A reception will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Lemont Center for the Arts, 1243 State St., and will recognized the top three artists in a broad range of categories. Nearly 200 students from Lemont's public and private schools participated in the program, which featured entries from students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Though the majority of entries were in the traditional fine arts category, many students also contributed work in areas such as photography, dance, music, literature and computer-generated art. Nearly 200 students from Lemont's public and private schools participated this fall in the second annual "Lemont Loves the Arts" showcase. An open house was held Tuesday night at SS. Cyril and Methodius School, 607 Sobieski Drive. It featured entries from students in kindergarten through eighth grade in a broad range of categories. Though the majority of entries were in the traditional fine arts category, many students also contributed work in areas such as photography, dance, music, literature and computer-generated art. The Lemont High School District 210 Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday to discuss personnel. The meeting will held in the district board room at Lemont High School, 800 Porter St. A community open house will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday to show off artwork created by Lemont students through the "Lemont Loves the Art" program.
