6A Football Preview: Bengals, Indians Clash in IHSA 6A Quarterfinals

Oak Forest High School and Lemont High School met two times in the last 12 months, with the Indians topping the Bengals both times. This week, the familiar foes square off in Oak Forest, with the winner one step closer to the State title game.

Winner goes on, loser goes home. Those are the stakes for the showdown between the Oak Forest Bengals and the Lemont Indians on Saturday, Nov. 10. The familiar foes will kickoff at 7 p.m. at Oak Forest High School, where the pair previously met in Week 5 of the regular, a game that saw the Indians play spoiler to Oak Forest's homecoming with a last-second 17-14 victory. “That game, we played well, they played well,” said Oak Forest coach Brian McDonough. “It came down to a field goal at the end of the game.” The game is also a rematch of last year's IHSA second round meeting between the two clubs, which Lemont also won, 35-14. In Round 2 of the IHSA 6A playoffs last week, Oak Forest put on a rushing clinic against Shepard, piling up 457 …

Lemont Not Taking Riverside-Brookfield Lightly

After dominating Week 1 win, Indians still level-headed.

Don't let Lemont's 42-8 win last year over Riverside-Brookfield fool you. The Indians know this is a new season and going into Friday's 7 p.m. nonconference contest at Shuey Stadium in Riverside, they know they will face a veteran team. "They were tough last year," said Indians senior running back Mike Anzalone. "We have our work cut out (for us) all week. We just have to go out there and do it again." "We beat them, last year, pretty good, but this year they have 15 returning starters," Indians senior starting quarterback Damon Aleman said. "It should be a tough one." Lemont (1-0) kicked off the season with a 54-0 triumph over Chicago Little Village at home last Friday. The Bulldogs (0-1) fell to state-ranked St. Francis 20-14 in a …

Lemont Boys Soccer Team Improves to 2-0

Indians post a 2-1 win at St. Ignatius

If you can remain unflappable in the face of pressure, you can win your share of soccer games. Lemont withstood a game-tying goal from St. Ignatius in the second half of their soccer game on Tuesday, held off the Wolfpack’s pressure from there, and got a game-winning goal from Tommy Gasienica in a 2-1 win in Chicago. “Any time you can come in here and play with these guys on this (artificial) surface, that’s a good day,” Lemont coach Rick Prangen said. “I thought we hung pretty tough, in a place that’s pretty tough to come in and get a result.” Senior Kyle Koehler liked what he saw from his Indians as well. “We settled down after (St. Ignatius) got that tying goal. We knew we had time to come back,” Koehler said. “We just had to settle …
