Candidates in the Running for Local Races

Here's the final list of candidates who are running for village, school boards and fire, library and park districts in the April 9 election.

Here is a list of the candidates who have filed petitions to run in the April 9, 2013 election. Questionnaires have been mailed out to all the candidates, and Patch will share their answers, as well as some biographical information, in the weeks preceding the election. Open Seats: 5 (Village president, clerk and three trustees) Who Has Filed: For Village President: Incumbent Brian K. Dear Citizen, Let me attempt to set you straight on a few issues about the petition drive aimed at allowing Lemont citizens like yourself a chance to vote on a very expensive, 21 million dollar project. The Village Board and Mayor of Lemont are in fact responsible for the petition drive. Here's the final list of candidates who are running for village, school boards and fire, library and park districts in the April 9 election.

The filing period for municipal elections began Dec. 17, and as of the final filing date of Dec. 26, here are the candidates who have filed petitions to run in the April 9, 2013 election. Based on their comments it is important for the Petrarca, Bushnell and Clausen slate be honest with their campaign slogan. It is obvious that their "Kid's First" slogan is wrong and not true. Their real slogan should be one of the following, Lemont Tea Party First, Americans for Prosperity First, Dan Proft First or The Koch Brothers First. Any or all of these would apply. Petition Filing Begins Monday for Lemont Board Elections

In the consolidated election on April 9, 2013, voters will elect individuals to several Lemont municipal boards, including the village, school districts 113A and 210; and fire protection, library and park districts.

The first day is Monday, Dec. 17 for candidates to file petitions for election to Lemont municipal boards. Candidates’ names will appear on the election ballot in the order in which their nominating papers are received. If simultaneous filings occur, lotteries will be held to determine ballot positions. Deadlines for filing petitions, objections have changed due to the holidays Originally, the last filing date for candidates in the April 9 municipal election was Dec. 24. But thanks to an amendment to the Illinois Election Code recently signed by Gov. Pat Quinn, those candidates won’t have to rush during the holidays to get their nominating petitions in – and municipal clerks won’t have to work until 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve to accept the …

LHS 2012 School Report Card data available

District 210 demographic, student achievement and financial information was presented to the board of education Monday and is now available on the district’s website.

The Illinois State Board of Education has provided to public school districts across the state their 2012 Illinois School Report Cards. Lemont High School District 210 administrators presented the district’s information to the board of education at its meeting Monday, and the school’s 2012 Illinois School Report Card was posted on the district’s Website on Tuesday. The Illinois School Report Card provides a snapshot of a school district’s demographic data, student achievement and financial information, among other items. The highlight in Lemont High School’s 2012 report card is that the Class of 2013 met or exceeded state standards at a rate significantly above the state average on the 2012 Prairie State Achievement Exam (PSAE). District 210 Administrator Receives Award

Christine Flores is the recipient of the 2012 Illinois Alliance of Administrators of Special Education Larry D. Vuillemot Leadership Award.

Christine Flores, Lemont High School District 210 Director of Special Education Services, received the 2012 Illinois Alliance of Administrators of Special Education (IAASE) Larry D. Vuillemot Leadership Award Sept. 20 at the 2012 IAASE Annual Fall Conference, held at the Tinley Park Convention Center. The IAASE annually honors a member with the award, which first was presented in 1991. Award winners must have held an elected office on the IAASE executive board, exhibit outstanding leadership ability within the organization, and show a commitment to high professional standards.
