Lemont High Debuts New ‘Eclectic’ Art Show at LCA

The show will be hosted at the Lemont Center for the Arts through June 30.

The Lemont High School art community debuted a new public art show at the Lemont Center for the Arts on Thursday that will run through June 30, titled “Eclectic: LHS Student Art Show” and featuring “the best of the best” of student artwork.  According to a Lemont High press release, “The show, which will feature a variety of outstanding pieces representing a variety of media, is expected to become an annual showcase for the Lemont community’s young aspiring artists.” The show is open to the public at the Lemont Center for the Arts (1243 State Street, Lemont) from noon-4 p.m. on Fridays, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturdays, and noon-4 p.m. on Sundays.  Art on the poster displayed to the left is from LHS sophomore Diana Vera.

Lemont Center for the Arts to Showcase Works by Old Quarry Students

More than 100 prints, paintings and sculptures created by Lemont middle school students will be on display April 12-28.

The Lemont Center for the Arts will highlight orignal works created by Old Quarry Middle School art students with a gallery opening Friday, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The exhibit, curated by Old Quarry art teacher Jean Dorrance, includes more than1 00 prints, paintings, plaques and clay sculptures. The collection will be on display in the gallery space through April 28. Dorrance partnered with the Arts and Culture Commission of Lemont to promote the students’ work. The gallery is open to the public Fridays and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m., and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. All artwork in the exhibit is available for sale, and proceeds will benefit the School District 113A Educational Foundation. I admit that I was not aware of this obviously valuable community asset. I intend to learn more about the center's activities. But I didn't even know where to find it until I visited the linked site. Community Invited to ‘Lemont Loves the Arts’ Open House

Event will showcase talents of Lemont student-artists from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Oakwood School.

Tap into the talent of local young artists at a community open house for “Lemont Loves the Arts” from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Oakwood School. The event will showcase the artistic creations of students from Oakwood, River Valley, Old Quarry, St. Alphonsus/St. Patrick, SS. Cyril and Methodius, Everest Academy and the Montessori School of Lemont. Lemont PTO launched the Lemont Loves the Arts program in 2010 to bring students from all of the village’s schools together through art. Lemont Center for the Arts Plans Open House Friday

The public is invited to "Spark," which will feature poets and local visual artists.

The Lemont Center for the Arts at 1243 State St., unit 101, will present its second anniversary exhibit, "Spark," from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7. The reception/open house is open to the public and will feature collaborations between the Illinois State Poetry Society and local visual artists. Poems and artwork will reflect upon the theme, "Is It Love, or Has the World Gone Crazy?" Many types of love exist, and many of those types are explored in original poems written by members of the ISPS. Local visual artists each selected one of those poems and created art as a reflection of that poem, with one form of expression providing the spark for another. Lemont Art Exhibit Offers Powerful Look into Struggles of Timberline Knolls Patients

For the second year in a row, women battling eating disorders, substance abuse and mood disorders have put their art therapy on display in "Honesty," a free exhibit at the Lemont Center for the Arts.

For the second consecutive year, Timberline Knolls Residential Treatment Center and the Lemont Center for the Arts are hosting a special exhibit featuring the artwork of Timberline Knolls' residents and staff. The art exhibit, titled "Honesty," is open for public viewing at the Lemont Center for the Arts through Sept. 2. Art therapy at Timberline Knolls helps in the recovery of women and adolescent girls who are struggling with eating disorders, trauma, addiction and other related issues. "Honesty is the first step in the 12-step recovery process and that's why this exhibit is so meaningful for our residents," said Melissa Rocchi MAAT, LCPC, ATR, clinical program development coordinator and manager of expressive therapies at Timberline …

Lemont Center for the Arts Celebrates First Anniversary

An open house Thursday night featured paintings, jewelry, photography and carvings from several local artists.

The Lemont Center for the Arts celebrated its first anniversary Thursday night with an open house and exhibition for local artists. The center, located in the Lemont Village Square Plaza at 1243 State St., was opened by the Village of Lemont's Arts and Culture Commission in September 2010. Residents can view the First Anniversary Exhibit now through Nov. 6. For more information about the Lemont Arts and Culture Commission or the Center for the Arts, contact the village at 630-257-1590.
