Jimbo’s Pizza Expands to New Location – Just a Few Steps Away

Lemont Patch’s 2011 ‘Business of the Year’ has room to grow in a more spacious spot at the corner of Walker and McCarthy roads.

Jimbo’s Pizza owner Jim Mandra is proud of his restaurant’s claim to fame – a whopping 19-inch pizza, affectionately known as “The Lemonster.” And now, the pizzeria proprietor has expanded his restaurant’s space to give patrons plenty of room in which to enjoy the prodigious pie. Mandra recently moved the restaurant from its 14-year home at the corner of Walker and McCarthy roads to a much roomier space just steps away in the same strip mall. With the expansion, Jimbo’s Pizza, winner of Lemont Patch’s 2011 Business of the Year award, can now offer its loyal patrons a dine-in choice in addition to the restaurant’s popular carry-out and delivery options. “It’s a new and improved location,” Mandra said. “We just had a couple of stools at the …

Jimbo's Pizza Wins in Patch Business of the Year Poll

Seven nominees were vying for the inaugural honor, all of whom were suggested by members of the community.

After moving to Lemont from the south side of Chicago more than a decade ago, Jim Mandra found himself missing the pizza pies he grew up with. “I just started making my own pizza out of my house,” Mandra said. “Then one thing led to another and I kind of got into the business.” These days, he is owner and operator of Jimbo's Pizza at 12267 Walker Road, which recently won the Patch Business of the Year poll. Seven nominees were vying for the inaugural honor, all of whom were suggested by members of the community. Jimbo's Pizza nabbed 6,897 votes. Mandra said he is thrilled with the honor. “When I heard I was in the running I was happy that someone nominated us,” he said. “That was really cool to hear. We were hoping that we would win.” …
