Preschool combines gymnastics with preschool academic curriculum.
I Flip”N” Learn Preschool will hold an open house from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at its facility at 10350 Rising Court in Woodridge. Area residents with preschool age children are invited to attend the open house to view the gymnastics facility and preschool classroom, meet the teacher and learn more about the school’s curriculum. The preschool offers what the name implies and more – combining the benefits of gymnastics with preschool academic curriculum goals created by the State of Illinois, all under the guidance of a certified elementary education teacher in a comprehensive gymnastics facility. The 16-year-old Lemont High School student finished eighth in the 14-15 division at the 2012 Visa Championships on Saturday.
Lemont gymnast Bobby Baker fell just short of the U.S. Junior Men's National Team on Saturday, finishing eighth in the 14-15 division at the Visa Championships in St. Louis. Baker, 16, earned a combined score of 160.350 at the event, which placed the top seven men in each division on USA Gymnastics' junior and senior national teams. The 16-year-old Lemont High School student will compete June 7-10 at the 2012 Visa Championships after finishing third at the Junior Olympic National Championships in May.
Lemont High School junior Bobby Baker will compete alongside 2012 Olympic hopefuls this week at the USA Gymnastics' national championships in St. Louis. Baker, 16, is among 40 junior division qualifiers who will compete Thursday through Sunday at the Visa Championships. He earned his spot last month after finishing third in the all-around at the U.S. Men's Junior Olympic National Championships on May 13 in Cincinnati. Although Baker is too young to qualify for the U.S. Olympic team, he could earn a position on the Junior National team by finishing top seven of his division, according to his dad, Jeff Baker. A Lemont High School sophomore will compete this week in USA Gymnastics' national championships in St. Paul, Minn. Bobby Baker, 15, was one of eight junior division qualifiers for the 2011 Visa Championships, which will be held Wednesday through Saturday at the Xcel Energy Center, according to a USA Gymnastics news release. Baker earned his spot last month after finishing fifth overall at the 2011 U.S. men's qualifier at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. He finished first on parallel bars, fourth on the high bar, sixth in the all-around competition and eighth on the still rings. According to his USA Gymnastics profile, Baker became a gymnast at age 5. He trains at Aerial Gymnastics Club in Downers Grove under coach Tim …
