Lemont High School was be rewarded for its charitable efforts Monday when pop music star Cher Lloyd, a standout on Britain's version of "The X Factor," performed a private concert for students. Lloyd visited Lemont for Goodwill's "Faul Haul Donation Challenge," which encouraged Chicago-area high schools to donate gently-used clothing and household items to local Goodwill stores throughout the month of November.  Prior to Lloyd taking the stage for her acoustic set, B96's "DJ Flipside" entertained the crowd of 1,400-plus students, mashing together a medley of today's hottest songs, and J Niice and Showbiz Shelly from B96's morning show congratulated the students on their efforts in the "Fall Haul." Lloyd, a standout contestant on Britain's version of "The X Factor," will put on a private concert March 18 after Lemont students won Goodwill's "Fall Haul Donation Challenge" in November.

Lemont High School will be rewarded for its charitable efforts next week when pop music star Cher Lloyd, a standout on Britain's version of "The X Factor," performs a private concert for students. Lloyd is scheduled to visit Lemont on March 18 as part of Goodwill's "Faul Haul Donation Challenge," which encouraged Chicago-area high schools to donate gently-used clothing and household items to local Goodwill stores throughout the month of November.  The Lemont Goodwill, located at 1146 State St., received nearly 51,000 donated items from students and community members—more than 50 percent more than the total of the second-place school, according to District 210 officials. Lemont Goodwill Store is Now Open

Retail and donation center at 1146 State Street is celebrating its grand opening weekend through Sunday.

A brand-new Goodwill retail and donation center is now open at 1146 State Street – and judging from the response from customers its very first day, the business is on the road to success. The store opened at 8 a.m. Friday to much fanfare – with throngs of customers waiting to shop for bargains and take advantage of the Goodwill’s grand-opening contests, refreshments and prizes. On Saturday, festivities will include free refreshments and a free reusable shopping bag with any purchase, while supplies last; prize giveaways every 15 minutes from 9 a.m. to noon, and a special prize for both the first customer and first donor of the day. The retail and donation center will celebrate its grand opening weekend Friday, Aug. 24, through Sunday, Aug. 26, at 1146 State St.

A new Goodwill retail and donation center is set to open this month in Lemont. The 21,000-square-foot store, located at 1146 State St., will celebrate its grand opening weekend Friday, Aug. 24, through Sunday, Aug. 26, with contests, prizes, refreshments and giveaways. Doors open at 8 a.m. Friday, 9 a.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday. Hourly contests and prices will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday. Throughout the weekend, customers will receive a free reusable shopping bag with any purchase, while supplies last. The first customers to donate or purchase items will win special prizes. Goodwill Hiring Team Members for New Lemont Store

Testing for potential employees will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, July 27.

Goodwill Industries of Metropolitan Chicago is currently hiring employees for the new retail and donation center set to open in Lemont next month. The 21,000-square-foot store is tentatively scheduled to open next month in the former Sears Hardware location, 1146 State St. Goodwill stores sell previously donated items such as clothing, kitchen accessories and more. The garden center in the former Sears will be turned into a donation center for residents to drop off used items. According to the company's website, the Lemont store is hiring part-time associates who are "dedicated to providing fast, friendly service to customers and donors."
