Lemont Girl Scout Sock Drive Tops Expectations

Troop 259 from River Valley School collected nearly 1,500 pairs of socks to donate to local families in need.

Lemont Girl Scout Troop 259, third-grade brownies from River Valley School, collected more than 900 pairs of mittens from generous members of the community last year – and hoped to top that total in socks this year. The girls not only met their goal of 900 - they ended up with 1,482 pairs of socks for Lemont families in need. “I am truly blown away by all the hard work these girls put into it,” said troop leader Robyn Horn. “They stood outside in the cold at Walgreens for hours soliciting our community. They had drop boxes in town, and then added more on their own. They asked for donations from family and friends, even asking for donations instead of Halloween candy from their grandparents. They are such a great group of girls that they …

Girl Scout Sock Drive Continues
