The Hope and Friendship Foundation is seeking donations of gently used or new formal and semi-formal women’s, children’s and men’s dress clothing, dress shoes in all sizes, purses and jewelry – for its fifth annual prom and dress clothing resale and consignment sale. The sale, which will take place from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 2, at Christ Community Church at 13400 Bell Road, offers an option for shoppers who can’t afford new dress clothing for special occasions such as prom, graduation, confirmation, first communion, Easter and spring formal dances. Four Lemont restaurants are encouraging patrons to support the local food pantries this month through a new "Dine, Donate, Dine Again with a Discount" program. Food, school supplies and monetary donations will be collected throughout the month of August at the following Lemont restaurants: Those who donate to the Lemont Food Pantries will receive a 10-percent discount during a return visit in September. Front Street Cantina will host a wiffle ball tournament Wednesday night to raise money for two local families battling cancer. The Lemont restaurant, located at 319 Front Street, is teaming up with the Hope and Friendship Foundation for the first "Strike Out Cancer" event. The tournament will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. during Lemont Legends Cruise Nights. All proceeds will go toward mortgage payments and utility bills for two Lemont families, each of which is suffering a recent cancer diagnosis.
