The Trojan Hockey Club, which is made up of students from four area high schools, took over the Woodridge Kohl's on Thursday to buy clothes and shoes for seven Lemont children.
Seven Lemont children will have new clothes and shoes this Christmas thanks to a generous donation from local high school hockey players. The Trojan Hockey Club – which is made up of students from Lemont, Romeoville, Bolingbrook and Downers Grove North high schools – took over the Woodridge Kohl's on Thursday night to shop for families in need of extra help this holiday season. Items purchased included shoes, socks, pants, pajamas and T-shirts. The shopping trip was organized by Lemont resident Debbie Zaremski, whose son Tyler plays for the Trojans. A data analyst for Lemont Township High School District 210 presented a detailed comparison of more than 20 schools to the Board of Education on Nov. 8.
In hopes of improving standardized test scores in the coming year, officials in Lemont High School District 210 have begun analyzing other schools in the region that scored well on the 2010 Illinois School Report Card. At the Nov. 8 meeting of the District 210 Board of Education, data analyst Kathy Brockett presented test results for more than 20 area high schools. The presentation came just one month after Lemont High School officials learned students failed to make adequate yearly progress (AYP) for the first time since the enactment of the No Child Left Behind Act in 2001.
