According to the FBI's 2011 Uniform Crime Report, Lemont’s crime rate, at 9, is the lowest of the crime rates of the nearby communities of Naperville, Romeoville, Bolingbrook, Plainfield, Woodridge and Joliet. The crime rate is the number of violent crimes that occur per 1,000 residents and is calculated by dividing the village’s total population by number of violent crimes (murder, rape, robbery, assault), property crimes (burglary, larceny, car theft) and arson. I wonder how many of those Rapes could have been avoided/stopped IF ILLinois allowed law abiding citizens to carry firearms for lawful defensive purposes??? ILLinois is the ONLY state that does NOT allow law abiding citizens to carry firearems for lawful defensive purposes!!!
