Lemont's Crime Rate: How Does it Compare with Neighboring Towns?

Lemont's 2011 crimes and crime rate compared with those of Naperville, Romeoville, Bolingbrook, Plainfield, Woodridge and Joliet.

According to the FBI's 2011 Uniform Crime Report, Lemont’s crime rate, at 9, is the lowest of the crime rates of the nearby communities of Naperville, Romeoville, Bolingbrook, Plainfield, Woodridge and Joliet. The crime rate is the number of violent crimes that occur per 1,000 residents and is calculated by dividing the village’s total population by number of violent crimes (murder, rape, robbery, assault), property crimes (burglary, larceny, car theft) and arson. The numbers below are from the FBI's recently released its 2011 Uniform Crime Report, which compiles information from local law enforcement about violent crimes and property crimes in their communities. I wonder how many of those Rapes could have been avoided/stopped IF ILLinois allowed law abiding citizens to carry firearms for lawful defensive purposes??? ILLinois is the ONLY state that does NOT allow law abiding citizens to carry firearems for lawful defensive purposes!!!
