The indoor pool at the CORE Fitness and Aquatic Complex in Lemont re-opened Tuesday after nearly four weeks of maintenance and repairs. The Lemont Park District closed the pool, located at 16050 W. 127th St., on Aug. 15. Maintenance work was originally supposed to be completed Aug. 26, but was instead extended until Tuesday, Sept. 6. Although the pool is now open to the public, it will be closed from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday for a swim meet. CORE members and pass holders are able to use Centennial Pool, 16028 W. 127th St., at no additional cost. Regular pool hours will resume Wednesday. Temperatures are likely to reach into the upper 90s on Sunday and remain for the rest of next week, meteorologists say.
The Village of Lemont and the Lemont Park District are urging residents to take precaution next week as temperatures soar into the mid to high 90s. The National Weather Service is forecasting a high of 90 on Sunday, 94 on Monday, 91 on Tuesday, 94 on Wednesday and 96 on Thurday. As of 11 a.m., the Lemont Park District's telephone and computer systems were still down as a result of Monday's storm.
Despite losing power for much of the day after a severe thunderstorm passed through the area Monday morning, the Lemont Park District has re-opened all but one of its facilities. The CORE Fitness and Aquatic Complex, 16050 W. 127th St., resumed normal business hours Tuesday morning. Centennial Pool, 16028 W. 127th St., also opened at 11 a.m. However, Centennial Community Center remained closed due to issues with the park district's telephone and computer systems. Power outages also closed several businesses Monday, including Jewel-Osco and Nancy's Pizza—both of which resumed normal hours Tuesday.

Spots are still available for kids interested in participating in Tuesday's record-setting swim lesson at the Lemont Park District. The new policy requires people to be 14 or older to use the CORE Fitness and Aquatic Complex, as well as an orientation session for new members between the ages of 14 and 17.
Teenagers wanting to use the CORE Fitness and Aquatic Complex must now be at least 14 years of age, according to a new policy adopted by the Lemont Park District last week. The Lemont Park District Board of Commissioners voted 4-0 during its April 19 meeting to approve a policy that sets a minimum age requirement to use facilities at the CORE, 16050 W. 127th St. Commissioner Jack Williams was absent from the meeting. Under the new policy, people must now be 14 or older to use the facilities. Previously, the requirement was that members be "high-school age," which raised concerns over 13-year-olds entering high school and 14-year-olds still in middle school.
