Free Fun at Fall Fest

Lemont Park District has plenty of activities planned for the entire family Saturday at Centennial Park.

What says Fall more than costume contests, scarecrow building, hayrides and s’mores around a bonfire? Lemont Park District’s third annual Fall Fest will offer all of these – and more – from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Centennial Park, at 16028 W. 127th St. in Lemont. This year’s event will also feature games and a jumpie for the kids, free hot dogs, a kiddie straw maze, and, for the first time this year, live music. - - - - - - - - - - - - - -  There are plenty of ways to keep up on Lemont news:

PHOTOS: Lemont Celebrates Kops-n-Kidz Day 2012

The Lemont Police Department hosted the sixth annual event Saturday at Centennial Park.

Hundreds of kids and police personnel packed Centennial Park, 16028 W. 127th St., on Saturday for the Lemont Police Department's sixth annual Kops-n-Kidz Day. The event featured a number of free activities for families, including a bike parade, games, train rides, face painting, K-9 demonstrations, inflatable slides and more. Kops-n-Kidz Day is organized each year by the Lemont Police Department, Lemont Park District and Lemont Green Initiative. Volunteers include members of the Lemont Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association, Police Explorer Post 449 and Neighborhood Watch. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -  There are plenty of ways to keep up on Lemont news:

Lemont's finest are gearing up for one of their favorite events of the year, Kops-n-Kidz Day. The sixth annual event will kick off at 9:45 a.m Saturday with a bike parade from Lions Park, 60 W. Roberta St., to Centennial Park, 16028 W. 127th St. The staging area opens at 9 a.m. Festivities will be held at Centennial from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Kops-n-Kidz Day, which is free to the public, offers a variety of activities that give children an opportunity to interact with Lemont police officers. All children ages 16 and under will receive a coupon for a free lunch and treat, as well as entry into a kids raffle. Police will also be give away free T-shirts and bike helmets while supplies last. Festivities begin at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Centennial Park, 16028 W. 127th St. Scheduled activities include a skateboarding competition, 3-on-3 basketball and bean bag tournaments, and live music. The beer garden and food court will benefit the Lemont Park Foundation. Thousands packed the Lemont Park District's Centennial Park on Sunday for the annual Independence Day Extravaganza. The event, which was co-sponsored by Patch, featured several local food vendors, live music, a bean bag tournament, a skateboard competition and a number of activities for kids. The night was capped off by a 25-minute firework display, which was simulcast on 1041 FM. Have any good photos from Sunday's event? Park District Plans Fireworks, Fun for Annual 'Independence Day Extravaganza'

Holiday festivities will kick off at 8 a.m. Sunday with the Freedom Run. Beer garden and food vendors open at 3 p.m. at Centennial Park.

The Lemont Park District is celebrating the Fourth of July one day early this weekend with its annual Independence Day Extravaganza at Centennial Park. Sunday's festivities kick off with a 5K and 10K in the morning, followed by an afternoon/evening of live music, food and games. Patch is an official sponsor of the Independence Day Extravaganza, so be sure to stop by our table near the children's games. We'll be handing out free popsicles, balloons, water bottles and more!
