Pamela Driscoll, Beverly Marzec, Mark McMahon and Mary Tally — all elected April 5 — were installed to the Lemont High School Board of Education on Wednesday.
The Lemont High School District 210 Board of Education welcomed one new member and re-elected its current president during a special organizational meeting Wednesday. Pamela Driscoll, Beverly Marzec, Mark McMahon and Mary Tally — all of whom were elected to office April 5 — were sworn in to serve four-year terms that will expire in 2015. Driscoll, Marzec and McMahon all won re-election bids, with Marzec beginning her sixth term, Driscoll beginning her third and McMahon beginning his second. Tally is beginning her first term, replacing departing board member Rita O'Brien. The board members join Mike Kardas, George Rimbo and Mike Shackel, whose seats do not expire until 2013. Tally will be formally seated on the Lemont High School District 210 Board of Education on Wednesday, replacing current board member Rita O'Brien.
Of the five uncontested races in Lemont in the April 5 consolidated election, only one individual was elected to a first term in office. Lemont resident and business owner Mary Tally will be sworn in Wednesday as the newest member of the Lemont High School District 210 Board of Education. She will join re-elected board members Beverly Marzec, Pam Driscoll and Mark McMahon, as well as board members Mike Kardas, George Rimbo and Mike Shackel—all of whom were elected to four-year terms in 2009. My family and I would like to personally thank all my supporters and the residents of Lemont and DuPage County who voted for me in the April 5, 2011 Election for District 113A. Although I did not win the election, I feel our campaign made a difference in the outcome. In particular, I am indebted to each and every one of my supporters for running a clean and honest campaign that reflected my personal commitment to openness and accountability. The past few weeks have been difficult for all the candidates, I know, but that’s what happens in hard-fought campaigns. UPDATED, 4:30 p.m. Another round of job cuts is expected to be approved Monday night in Lemont-Bromberek Combined School District 113A as the Board of Education takes steps to reduce expenditures for the next fiscal year. District 113A Superintendent Tim Ricker said Friday that the administration is recommending the elimination of nine full-time, certified staff members for the 2011-2012 school year — six of which are tenured teachers. According to district documents, the reduction would result in a total savings of approximately $695,329. Under the financial plan approved by the Illinois State Board of Education, District 113A is required to eliminate borrowing and build fund balances over the next two years by reducing expenditures and/…

The Lemont-Bromberek Combined School District 113A Board of Education is inviting senior citizens to attend an informational forum on Sunday, March 20. For the past month, representatives from the District 113A School Board have been hosting a series of forums to give the community the opportunity to ask questions and learn about recent developments in the district. On March 20, the board will host a forum specifically geared toward Lemont's senior residents. The meeting will begin at 2 p.m. at the Lemont Township Community Center, 16300 Alba St. Dessert and coffee will be provided by PC's Pancake Cafe. Without an increase in revenue, the Lemont-Bromberek Combined School District 113A Board of Education is expected to make another $670,000 in cuts this year.
Administrators in Lemont-Bromberek Combined School District 113A will begin working on plans to close Central School next year as they prepare for the possibility of a failed referendum in April. During Monday's regular meeting of the District 113A Board of Education, board members were presented options for facility use and reorganization, which will in large part be determined by the outcome of the proposed $20 million working cash bond referendum on the April 5 ballot. Should the referendum fail, the district would need to make cost reductions of at least $670,000, per the financial plan approved by the Illinois State Board of Education.
