The Lemont High School District 210 Board of Education will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday to discuss the district's financial plan.
The Lemont High School District 210 Board of Education will hold a workshop meeting Thursday to discuss district finances, Board President Beverly Marzec announced Tuesday. The workshop, which is posted on the Lemont High School website, will focus on the district's financial plan, according to the meeting agenda. Tony Hamilton, director of school and community relations for District 210, characterized the workshop as "proactive planning." The board and administration regularly use a variety of sources — PMA Financial projections and historical data on revenue and expenditures, for example — to determine "how to plan for the future and best use district resources," he said. Aurelio asked if approving the audit would set a precedent for the administration and business office approving interfund loans without the board's approval. Lemont High School school board members on Tuesday heard results of the 2010 Illinois School Report Card, which has yet to be released to the public.
For the first time, Lemont High School has failed to make adequate yearly progress (AYP) in standardized state testing. The Board of Education for Lemont Township High School District 210 briefly discussed the 2010 results at its meeting Tuesday. "We did not make AYP, and we'll be getting the report card together and putting out the information to put this into context for the community," said Superintendent Sandra Doebert, who presented the board with the 2009-2010 Illinois School Report Card. Under a federal mandate from the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, all students must meet or exceed state standards in the subjects of reading and mathematics by 2014. Since 2003, the state of Illinois has used AYP to determine whether students are …
