Unofficial results released Wednesday afternoon by Cook County Clerk David Orr indicate write-in candidate Janet Hughes will not retain her seat on the Lemont-Bromberek Combined School District 113A Board of Education. There were a total of 1,115 write-in votes cast in the District 113A race, where Hughes, was the only write-in candidate. Results from Cook and DuPage counties give candidate Al Malley 2,353 votes, which puts him in position to win the fourth open seat. Hughes would need 1,239 votes to surpass Malley, and only 868 ballots were cast in DuPage County. Click here for the full story. Beginning at 6 a.m. Tuesday, Lemont voters will head to the polls to decide the next four members of the Lemont-Bromberek Combined School District Board of Education, as well as the outcome of the proposed $20 million referendum. The election takes place Tuesday, April 5. Polls open at 6 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. Your polling place depends on which precinct you live in. To find your polling place, visit the Cook County Clerk's website. Polling places can change last minute. You can also refer to the precinct map to the right. The consolidated April election is now just days away. Do you know who you're voting for? Patch caught up with each of the nine candidates running for the Lemont-Bromberek Combined School District 113A Board of Education, and asked them to state their case to Lemont voters in two-minute videos. More than 1,200 have cast their ballots with two days left in Early Voting.
With two days left in Early Voting and just one week until Election Day, Lemont voters are turning out in huge numbers. As of 2:50 p.m. Tuesday, the Lemont Public Library had 1,222 ballots cast, making it the third busiest Early Voting location in suburban Cook County (in areas with contested races), according to Cook County Clerk David Orr. The library trails only Centennial Ice Rink in Wilmette (2,774) and Chicago Heights City Hall (1,809). The Lemont Library saw its highest early voter turnout Friday, March 25, with 133 ballots cast. From Friday to Sunday, a total of 358 early ballots were submitted. As Early Voting heads into its final days, Orr announced a high participation rate across all suburban polling places.
