Darrin is a gentleman of a cat. He's looking for a loving family to take care of him and his feline diabetes.
Name: Darrin Age: 9 Sex: Male Personality: From the Humane Haven Petfinder page, "Darrin's favorite pastimes are 'sunning himself' in a warm spot and getting a good chin scratch from his humans. He's good with other cats and seems merely curious with dogs. A real gentleman with exceptional litter box habits. He's an older gentleman, but at 9 years old, he's hardly a senior citizen." More info: Darrin has feline diabetes. Diabetes is common and easily treatable, requiring vigilance and twice daily insulin shots. Cats can live happily with diabetes for many years. Darrin is also neutered, house trained and up-to-date with his shots. Interested? Call Humane Haven Animal Shelter at 630-378-4208.

Just because a worker is undocumented doesn't mean her children should be taken away from her.
We have a great country. Yet, sometimes there are blemishes. One such blemish is named Circuit Court Judge David C. Dally in Missouri. He’s more like a pimple, really, a pimple on the behind of the American justice system. Judge Dally terminated the parental rights of a mother because she was an undocumented worker. She was jailed for two years and her son was adopted against her will. The boy, now 5, has been living with an American family, Melinda and Seth Moser. They call him Jamison. They all speak English. The birth mother, Encarnacion Bail Romero, is from Guatemala and speaks only Spanish. I am an educated person. Still, I cannot begin to understand the complexity of the immigration problem we face. What I do know is that taking a …

Jasmine is an eight-year-old Siamese mix at the Hinsdale Humane Society.
Jasmine is an 8-year-old Siamese torti point, and weighs just under 13 pounds. She was adopted from the Hinsdale Humane Society years ago, but Jasmine's owner recently began having health problems, so Jasmine was brought back to the shelter in August. The shelter says Jasmine is a very loving, gentle cat that loves to curl up in your lap and be petted. "She's very sweet," said Sarah Zero, who works at the Hinsdale Humane Society.
