Plainfield central is unranked. Scores are about the same as Joliet West.

So the questions are: "What does #1 do that's better than HPHS? How can HPHS improve? What'sRead More holding us back?" Compare and contrast.

The 'quality adjustment' to the AP results appear to be the only basis as to why DHS wasn't rankedRead More above Stevenson - as the # 1 truly 'public' [taking all comers - not getting to pick and choose its student body - like the academies and/or magnets] in the State of Illinois. OK, so, DHS will have to 'try harder.' As for Highland-Park, what's the story over there; and the same goes for New Trier? My, how the once mighty have fallen. Go Big Red!

Total school population is??? How much money will we save pre student? Safety of the kids is theRead More prime consideration and when we know how much per child we are saving...we may not be too excited about making this change.

1st Student is a bus company. They can hire the drivers we have now when they take over the busRead More contract. I know the person involved in the deal and he will be looking to hire drivers. It is a win win for Lemont. And for a town that would not vote to raise taxes for education but would continue to overpay for buses, that's mind blowing. Who needs a good teacher, I have a friendly bus driver

She's a natural! Such a nice honor for a wonderful young lady. I've witnessed her in action withRead More children. She has all the attributes to make a great teacher.

"Virtual walls"? Geezus... GPS spoofing is but one way around the geofence. The otherRead More is simply walking up to someone and saying "HEY *(&*(^^#&*(Y($*() !!!!!" Or use a different app created with a bogus email account... *sigh*. Sticks and stones people... sticks and stones... Walk it off and move on...

thats for sure, this country is turning into a bunch of pansies!!

my kid tells me that his buddy who lives over in Europe has a math book that shows a drawing of anRead More obese American eating a Cheeseburger with Plumbers Ass , as if we are a bunch of slobs over here!!! Is that nice or what???
B.S. Buster March 20, 2014 at 09:21 pm
Now Jim, you know the school had more than 1 referendum and what happened with that. The reason forRead More the 'plex is to create income without raising taxes, but by charging fees to people who willingly wish to participate in the sports activity. You remember the part of the park district survey that said 77% of respondents favored renting fields to outsiders (fee based)? Respectfully, Bartholomew Sylvester Buster III

I would like to put my first comment here in attention getting red...that comment is that I wouldRead More want to see the detail on HOW these companies will achieve the savings they offer to the District. There are but two scary areas in which savings become obvious. They can replace the current busses with worn out equipment that has already been depreciated both economically and mechanically. Next, they will attack the cost of labor. Most other costs are static/fixed. So, does this proposed savings mean our kids will ride worn out and possibly unsafe busses driven by drivers who are "starting out" at low wages and inexperienced and consequently less safe than our current seasoned team of drivers??? Tell me HOW they will achieve the savings and THEN I will tell you if it is wise to put our kids on their busses. Homework! The DEVIL is always in the detail. In the end, the wrong decision could cost the life of a child. I say, think this over very closely!

Jim...I recognize your passion but...the line item on the School Board budget is Transportation andRead More that is the subject of the post. What the Village Board spends is not relevant. Your point relative to the plex has been made over and over...I suggest you give it a break. You are beating a dead horse. Until there is a means to fund the plex nothing will happen. Save your energy for the fight...if and when it comes. Personally, I think you have a loosing hand. Just sayin.

Could be an awfull idea. I seem to recall district 113A got into fim nancial trouble partly becauseRead More of another grant for cardiovascular equipment installed in Old Quarry. If my memory is correct and that is a big if. I recall with the grant there was an obligation for ongoing equipment maintenance and documentation which ended up being quite a burden to the ongoing budgets. Seems like plants would not have such an expense or committment going forward. I just suggest that we make sure that is looked at prior to everyone jumping on the band wagon. I would not want us to accept a mere $2500.00 and be siging up for having to pay someone's salary, benefits, and retirement for the next 100 years.

Great idea Mrs. Raymond and best of luck to you. I will be sure to vote!

I love Lemont. Many come from Naperville, and Orland, Downers to par ooze the streets and canal.Read More After work get off the train and stop in a great pizza joint, yeah. Or tacos with terrific chips and salsa at H & H. or a little pool at the famous pools bars, or a craft beer on tap at Toms, .... Great town. I come from the town with a million franchise restaurants because no mom and pop place could afford the Godly rent in Orland Pk. PF Chang, Rock Bottom, Granite City, Fridays, .... yuk.
Edward Andrysiak March 26, 2014 at 12:29 pm
How about this idea....WE build a nice deck with picnic tables, each numbered, down at the QuarriesRead More here in lemont. Now, we get all the restaurants to participate in delivering food to the outdoor site on the edge of the scenic quarry (Great lakes). One delivery person could do well making all the deliveries. So then, a visitor or resident of lemont could spend a nice evening or day at the quarry and order a meal via cell phone...have it delivered and chow down. I wonder how many of you like the idea...and it does bring people to the area and it does support ALL the eating places in town. What say you????
Edward Andrysiak March 26, 2014 at 12:32 pm
Did I mention that the deck connects to a pier where you can rent a row boat or canoe for a fewRead More hours before enjoying your meal. like the idea? Improve the idea?

StartCPR, Inc. supports Young Hearts For Life! Parents, please sign your child's consent form. ItRead More is painless and free.
Edward Andrysiak February 21, 2014 at 07:20 am
To make your assertion valid you need to present all the detail and then, there is the need for theRead More drivers input before one an give a fair assessment.

I support our Bus Drivers in Lemont, why don't you out source some of the teachers who have high payRead More and save money that way, but no lets go and hit the ones who do not make as much money and who know the kids and the kids know the bus drivers lets hit them below the belt. Why not ask the parents who children ride the bus what they want.
Karen Smith Kling March 20, 2014 at 10:00 am
I feel this would be a Huge mistake! The out-sourced bus company switches drivers all the time. OurRead More children would not have the same driver everyday. Given the cold winter we had, would you want your child waiting outside for the bus that might not come because the driver is not familiar with the route. My daughter's driver now comes everyday at the same time on the dot! Do these out-sourced drivers have background checks? Nearly all of our drivers now are from Lemont, you would be putting our "neighbors" out of a job! If this out-sourcing occurs, I for one will be taking my daughter to and from school everyday. I believe any more parents will be doing the same. Now you will have to deal the congestion on 127th. Please don't let money be the deciding factor in your decision!
