Oakwood School, one of three elementary schools in District 113A, serves all kindergarten, first- and second-grade students in Lemont. The building adjoins River Valley School and houses approximately 750 students.
First- and second-graders at Oakwood receive daily instruction in the subjects of math, science, social studies, language arts and physical education. Weekly activities and lessons include art, music and computer lab and library visits.
The kindergarten curriculum focuses on math and reading readiness, with an emphasis on enhancing vocabulary and letter recognition. Students also participate in daily physical education with a specialist.
