The Lemont Fire Protection District will hold its annual Open House on Sunday, Oct. 6, at Fire Station One, 15900 New Ave.
Held during Fire Prevention Week (Oct. 6-12), the event features an afternoon full of fun activities for the entire family. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The open house will feature opportunities to visit with firefighters and their families, tour some of the department’s emergency vehicles, and interact with representatives from area businesses and emergency management agencies.
The Lemont Fire Protection District covers an area of approximately 40 square miles. Its four stations serve the Village of Lemont and portions of Woodridge, Darien, Bolingbrook and Homer Glen.

Giant Pumpkin Contest: The Cook County Farm Bureau Commodities/Marketing Team will hold its 13th annual Giant Pumpkin Contest from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Puckerville Farms, 13332 Bell Road in Lemont.
