Lemont Fire Protection District Open House Set for Oct. 6

Open house begins at 11 a.m. Sunday at Fire Station One, 15900 New Ave.

The Lemont Fire Protection District will hold its annual Open House on Sunday, Oct. 6, at Fire Station One, 15900 New Ave.

Held during Fire Prevention Week (Oct. 6-12), the event features an afternoon full of fun activities for the entire family. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The open house will feature opportunities to visit with firefighters and their families, tour some of the department’s emergency vehicles, and interact with representatives from area businesses and emergency management agencies.

The Lemont Fire Protection District covers an area of approximately 40 square miles. Its four stations serve the Village of Lemont and portions of Woodridge, Darien, Bolingbrook and Homer Glen.

Week 6 Football: Lemont High School (2-3, 1-1) will host Hillcrest at 7 p.m. Friday.

Community Blood Drive: MB Financial Bank, 1151 State St., will host a fall blood drive from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Walk-ins are welcome, but registration is preferred. To register, call 630-243-3729. Photo IDs are required. All eligible donors will receive a free gift.


Giant Pumpkin Contest: The Cook County Farm Bureau Commodities/Marketing Team will hold its 13th annual Giant Pumpkin Contest from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Puckerville Farms, 13332 Bell Road in Lemont. The event will also feature a pumpkin dessert contest, a youth pumpkin decorating contest, food, family activities and more. For more information, visit www.cookcfb.org/events.
