Lemont Center for the Arts to Host Third Anniversary Exhibition

Also this weekend: The Lemont High School football team heads to Riverside-Brookfield, and Thrivent Financial hosts a community blood drive.

The Lemont Center for the Arts will celebrate its third anniversary with a juried exhibition Sept. 6 through Oct. 27.

The anniversary exhibit, sponsored by the Lemont Art and Culture Commission, will feature paintings, ceramics, photography and other works by local artists.

This year marks the first time the exhibit will be judged and juried. Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners.

To celebrate the opening of the exhibit, a public reception will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, at the Lemont Center for the Arts, 1243 State St.

Week 2 Football: Lemont High School (0-1) will look to bounce back from its loss to Plainfield South when they travel to Riverside-Brookfield on Friday. The game begins at 7 p.m.

Community Blood Drive: Thrivent Financial will host a community blood drive from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at 310 Illinois St. #1W (Thrivent Financial).
