Radogno, Durkin to Co-Host Senior Health Fair in Lemont

Health fair will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the CORE Fitness and Aquatic Complex.

State Sen. Christine Radogno (R-Lemont) and State Rep. Jim Durkin (Western Springs) will co-host a free senior health fair on Wednesday, Oct. 9, in Lemont.

The event will be held 9 a.m. until noon at the Lemont Park District's CORE Fitness and Aquatic Center, 16050 127th St.

"It’s a great opportunity to gather information about programs and services available to seniors," Durkin said in a statement. "We will also offer free blood sugar, blood pressure and grip strength screenings, balance assessments and thermal posture evaluations."

Flu shots will be available for free for those with Medicare B and $31.99 for those without. Seniors may also get a photo identification taken.

Information will be available about fire safety, healthy eating, assisted living, transportation, saving on your phone bill, Alzheimer’s disease, veterans assistance, reading programs and other state and local services.

“If you are a senior citizen, or someone helping an elderly parent, relative or friend, this is a forum where you can reach out to approximately 50 representatives and vendors who are knowledgeable about many of the issues and concerns that frequently impact the senior community,” Radogno said in a statement. “We will also have on site a super-sized shredder, so bring any unwanted documents you would like to have destroyed. It’s a great way to protect against identity theft."
