Lemont Officials to Recognize Retiring Fire Chief Carl Churulo

The village of Lemont will recognize retiring fire chief Carl Churulo on Monday night.

Lemont Mayor Brian Reaves is scheduled to read a proclamation during the village board's business meeting Monday that pays tribute to Churulo, who is set to retire this week after nine years with the Lemont Fire Protection District.

Prior to his time in Lemont, Churulo worked for the Romeoville Fire Department for 25 years—14 as chief. 

He was succeeded last month by Chief George Rimbo.

During Monday's meeting, Reaves will also swear in four new Lemont police officers.

The village board is set to consider two action items—an ordinance to delete certain properties from the 2013 Amended Gateway Tax Increment Finance Redevelopment Project Area, and a resolution approving a work order with ComEd.

Lemont Farmers Market: 
The Lemont Farmers Market will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday in Talcott Square, located at Stephen and Talcott streets.

Lemont Legends Car Show: The Lemont Legends Car Show series will continue Wednesday in downtown Lemont. The show runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. every Wednesday through Aug. 28. For more information, visit www.lemontchamber.com.

Sunset Soiree: The Lemont Park District will host another "Sunset Soiree" at 6 p.m. Friday at Centennial Park, 16028 W. 127th St. For more information, visit www.lemontparkdistrict.org

Paws in the Park: The Lemont Park District will host "Paws in the Park" at 10 a.m. Saturday at Covington North Park, 1257 Covington Drive. Residents are invitied to enjoy a variety of activities, demonstrations, shopping with pet vendors, and mingling with other pets and pet lovers.
